Will you need to change your network password soon?

There are some new rules for password changes so that your network accounts remain secure.  The next time you change your password, it must meet the following rules:

  • The password must be of minimum 8 characters
  • The password must contain at least 1 lower case letter
  • The password must contain at least 1 upper case letter
  • The password must contain at least 1 number
  • You are not allowed to set the password to your student number or to use your name as password
An example of this new password requirement might be: Senator1

Don't forget to sign up for password recovery before your password expires.  Then you will be able to reset your password via your mobile rather than queuing up at SID!

Printing lecture notes

Students often ask about how to print off PowerPoint slides from their lectures. Usually, they will want to print more than one slide per sheet.

Here is how to do it!

Open the PowerPoint Presentation.

You may need to enable editing before you can print it. This will appear in a yellow bar at the top of the screen, If this appears, click 'Enable Editing'

Go to the File Menu

Click on Print

From main window, under Settings, from the section Handouts, select number of slides per page as required

When you have chosen the required amount, click Print in the left hand column. You will then get a printout of multiple slides on one sheet.

*Please note that sometimes PowerPoints are saved as PDFs.  PDFs must be printed as they appear and the number of slides per page cannot be altered
